Data Protection in M365 & Carbon Footprint Reduction

Context

Groupe Rocher, an international family-owned company present in 118 countries, is undergoing an advanced digital transformation with widespread cloud adoption. With over 15,000 employees and a constantly growing data volume (600 TB on Office 365, 11,000 SharePoint sites, 12,000 mailboxes, 7,000 Teams groups), the secure and responsible management of information is a key priority.

Faced with these challenges, CISO Jérôme Étienne initiated a proactive approach to cybersecurity and digital sobriety, integrating advanced governance mechanisms to ensure optimal access control and limit information overload. This initiative aims to balance performance and responsibility by guaranteeing data protection while reducing the environmental footprint of digital operations.

Challenges

Groupe Rocher had to address several challenges:

  • Cybersecurity and risk management: Handle incidents related to unauthorized sharing, limit accidental exposure, and strengthen collaborative access governance.
  • Data volume management: Control the exponential growth of files stored in the cloud, reduce SOC overload, and minimize security false positives.
  • User accountability: Raise awareness among employees and involve them in managing and protecting their own data, by providing them with intuitive tools and personalized reports.
  • Responsible digital practices: Reduce the IT system's carbon footprint by identifying and deleting obsolete or unused files, thereby contributing to the group's sustainability goals.

"MyDataManagement allows us to strengthen and encourage responsible digital practices. Every user can now clean up their data with ease."
